"1300 Years of Bulgaria" Monument - SOFIA, BULGARIA

The remainings of the sculpture

The monument “1300 years of Bulgaria” by the sculptor Prof. Valentin Starchev, had to be completed in time for the celebrations and manifestations of  honouring the 1300th anniversary of the foundation of the Bulgarian state. However, it was made fast, from cheap and short-lived materials. As a result, it started to fall apart the same year!

After many protests against its dismantling, the monument "1300 years of Bulgaria" was finally dismantled. The figures which has been removed are going  to be restored and preserved as exhibits at the National Museum of History in Sofia.
