Rainbow Bridge - NIAGARA FALLS, CANADA
The Niagara Falls International Rainbow Bridge, commonly known as the Rainbow Bridge, is a steel arch bridge spanning the Niagara River gorge. It connects Niagara Falls, New York, in the United States, with Niagara Falls, Ontario, in Canada, offering panoramic views of the river and surrounding landscape.
The bridge was constructed near the site of the former Honeymoon Bridge, which dramatically collapsed in January 1938 after an ice jam overwhelmed the river. The incident accelerated plans for a replacement, leading to a joint Canadian–American project.
Designed by architect Richard (Su Min) Lee, construction of the Rainbow Bridge began in May 1940, and the bridge officially opened to the public on November 1, 1941. Today, it stands as both a vital international crossing and a historic landmark within the Niagara Falls region.
