Agra Fort - AGRA

The Agra Fort is a historic fortress located in the city of Agra, in northern India, and is one of the most important UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Asia. Rather than a simple fort, it is more accurately described as a vast walled city, showcasing the grandeur and power of the Mughal Empire.

Constructed in 1573 under the reign of Emperor Akbar, one of the greatest rulers of the Mughal Dynasty, the fort required over 4,000 workers and nearly eight years to complete. Built primarily of red sandstone, Agra Fort served as the main imperial residence of the Mughal emperors until 1638, when the capital was moved from Agra to Delhi.

Today, Agra Fort is one of India’s most visited historical landmarks, attracting travelers from around the world who come to explore its palaces, courtyards, mosques, and massive defensive walls — a timeless testament to Mughal architectural brilliance.
