City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia with cypress trees reflected in water pools under a blue sky, Spain

The City of Arts and Sciences is one of the most iconic modern landmarks of Valencia, located on Spain’s eastern Mediterranean coast in Spain, Europe.
Designed mainly by architect Santiago Calatrava, this futuristic cultural complex was built on the former riverbed of the Turia and opened gradually between 1998 and 2009.

The ensemble includes world-class attractions such as the Science Museum, the Hemisfèric, the Oceanogràfic and the Palau de les Arts, all surrounded by reflective pools, white concrete structures and carefully designed landscaping. The shallow water basins and rows of cypress trees create strong visual symmetry, enhancing the complex’s architectural elegance.

Today, the City of Arts and Sciences is both a major cultural hub and one of Valencia’s most photographed locations, symbolizing the city’s transformation into a contemporary European destination that blends science, art and innovative urban design.
