Courtyard of the National Museum of Cambodia in Phnom Penh with Khmer-style architecture

The National Museum of Cambodia, located in Phnom Penh, is the country’s largest museum of cultural history and its leading institution for archaeology and heritage preservation. Designed by historian and curator George Groslier and inspired by traditional Khmer temple architecture, the building was constructed between 1917 and 1924 and later renovated in 1968.

Set in the heart of Cambodia in Asia, the museum houses one of the world’s most important collections of Khmer art. Its exhibits include stone sculptures, ceramics, bronzes, and ethnographic objects spanning the prehistoric, pre-Angkorian, Angkorian, and post-Angkorian periods, offering a comprehensive view of the region’s artistic and spiritual legacy.
